The City of Kingman and Kingman County Economic Development Council are pleased to announce the addition of Sonic Drive-In to Kingman.

Sonic plans to begin construction of a new Drive-In in the space across from Prairieland Partners on the south side of HWY 54/400. Over $1 million dollars will be invested by Sonic in new construction and equipment. The Drive-In will add 35-60 new jobs to the community. The location will be operated by owners Bill Young and Joe Venable of Pratt, Kansas.

The development has been very complicated because of its blighted location which makes it all that much more critical for the 54/400 corridor, the gateway to Kingman and Kingman County from the east.

"Bill (Young) and I are excited to become a part of the Kingman business community. We believe Kingman deserves a Sonic," stated Joe Venable, Franchise Partner.

“The addition of Sonic is a huge win for Kingman and for the 54/400 corridor,” said Alan Albers, President of the Kingman County Economic Development Council. “Emily Graf and Jim Rowland worked tirelessly to bring this exciting development to our community,” Albers continued.

The Sonic development is an extremely important piece of a long term economic development commitment by Kingman and Kingman County thru Kingman County Economic Development Council.

"This is a great thing for the community and really validates all of the City's positive momentum to have a major corporation make a major investment like this. I hope both local and other entrepreneurs take notice that Kingman is a great place to do business," Emily Graf stated.

“Sonic will be a great community partner and asset, creating a new source of significant sales tax dollars that will benefit Kingman and all of Kingman County,” Charlus Bishop, Mayor of Kingman said.
